Turnover requires Windows XP and at least .NET Framework 2.0 (x86) installed. If you're not sure about your .NET Framework version, then just open your Windows Control Panel, and click Software. A list of all installed software will be put together. Check it for version 2.0 of the .NET Framework. If you still have version 1.0 and/or 1.1, you need to upgrade. The .NET Framework 2.0 can be downloaded for free from Microsoft, at: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa731542.aspx
You
download Turnover as a zip file. It doesn't have an installation
procedure. Just unpack the zip file in Windows explorer, and place the
unpacked files together in a folder of your choice, for instance:
Uninstalling is just a matter of manually deleting your Turnover folder and any Turnover shortcuts.
Turnover
is a puzzle game. The playing field consists of a matrix of two-sided
square tiles. One side of each tile has the colour set under
Colour 1 in the Options box. The other side of each tile has the colour
set under Colour 2 in the Options box.
After starting the game, the game matrix is all in one colour. This is the completed state of the puzzle, and the goal of the game. You can randomize the puzzle state manually by turning lines, or automatically by clicking the Randomize button. Note that any manually or automatically randomized puzzle always has a solution. Click the Restart button if you want to start playing from the completed state again.
All options can be set in the Options box to the right of the playing field. The Colour 1 and Colour 2 boxes display the two tile colours. Simply click the desired colour box to select the next available colour. There are 20 colours to choose from. Newly selected colours are applied to the puzzle immediately.
The first time you start Turnover, the game matrix is sized 4x4 tiles. You can change the Width and Height by clicking the up and down arrows next to the relevant value. The matrix size ranges from 3x3 up to and including 20x20 in the full (licensed) version of Turnover. The demo version of Turnover is limited to 3x3, 4x3, 3x4 and 4x4.
There are 4 different backgrounds available. Simple click the Background box to select the next available background.
If
you need help solving a puzzle state, just mark the Display solution
checkbox. Black lines will be drawn over the game matrix to indicate which
lines you have to turn to complete the puzzle. The displayed solution will
be updated with every line you turn. To switch solution display off, just unmark the
checkbox.
Every time you exit the game, your current settings are saved so that next time you start the game, those settings will be restored.
To open this documentation from within Turnover, click the Help icon (the question mark) at the bottom of the Options box.
The demo version of Turnover 1.0 can be played indefinitely, and has all game functionality of the full version, but the game matrix size is limited to up to and including 4x4. The full (licensed) version offers game matrix sizes of up to and including 20x20.
Licensed versions are not sold as separate software: any demo version can be upgraded to the full version by registering a license key. License keys can be purchased online from http://www.games.semantrium.com/ . Note that a licence key binds Turnover to your current computer processor. You cannot use the licence key on another computer. That's why, per purchase, you are entitled to two licence keys. This will allow you to play the full version of Turnover on two pc's. You may request both keys at the same time, or only one at first and the second one at a later time (provided licence keys are still being sold). So it's up to you if you want to save the second licence key request for when you ultimately buy a new computer, or if want to request it at the same time as the first one, for example because you want to give it to a friend.
Registering your copy of Turnover
After
purchasing a licence key, you'll have to send an e-mail containing your
machine identifier (which is a combination of your CPU serial number and network card MAC
address), your name (being the name that will accompany the
purchase transaction), and the purchase date, to To retrieve your machine identifier, simply right-click the Help icon at the bottom of the Options box. Copyright and licence information now appear. The details of your machine have already been retrieved and the identifier is shown in the relevant read-only entry field. Copy the number from the entry field by selecting it with the mouse and pressing Ctrl+C. Open the e-mail message you are about to send, click in the body of the e-mail and press Ctrl+V to paste the data.
After you've received your licence key, copy it from the e-mail by selecting it with the mouse and pressing Ctrl+C. Then open Turnover and right-click the Help icon at the bottom of the Options box. Copyright and licence information now appear. Click the Your licence key entry field and delete any text in it. Then press Ctrl+V to paste your licence key from the Windows Clipboard. Now click the Save button to store your licence key in a file on your computer. Then click the Hide button to display the playing field and Options box again. Exit Turnover and restart it. From now on, Turnover should be in full version mode. This means that you can set the game matrix size beyond 4x4 now, whenever you wish.
In principle there is no support for this software. By buying a licence you buy the right to use the full version of Turnover 1.0 "as is" as long as you want to, on the computer with the CPU (processor) and the network card as identified by the machine identifier used to obtain the licence key. If you want to play the game on a different computer, you'll have to obtain another licence key.
There are no refunds! Before buying you should check whether the demo version of Turnover functions properly on the system on which you wish to run the full version of Turnover. If it doesn't, then don't purchase a licence key.
If you find a game-stopping bug (either in the demo or full version) please let me know, and I will try to fix it. If I succeed, I'll refer you to a web page where the updated version can be downloaded from.
Your
personal details are save with semantrium.com. No private data will be
sold or made available to third parties. And you won't receive any e-mails
from semantrium.com other than the one containing your licence key(s).
